As summer 2013 approaches, Wold Architects and Engineers, Kraus-Anderson Construction and the Westonka Facilities Committee are finalizing designs for Shirley Hills and the high school. Projects for these facilities will be bid in late March, and construction will begin shortly after the end of the school year, with some projects starting earlier. Although design work is also underway for Hilltop and Grandview, these buildings will not see significant construction until summer 2014.
Thanks to regular meetings since last spring to ensure schedule and budgetary goals are being met, district improvements remain on budget. The committee has worked hard to stretch dollars, allowing for further improvements not originally within the scope of the project. A significant addition is a centralized air handling system with air conditioning at Grandview—which will be more efficient and effective than the unit ventilators originally proposed.
